Hi! I am Kuba, I will be 24 in May. A year ago, overnight, I was diagnosed with a huge tumor of the mediastinum. Diagnosis: aggressive lymphoma. From June 2021, I underwent 5 cycles of chemotherapy, then 2 cycles of immunotherapy, then subsequent cycles of chemotherapy and another immunotherapy as part of RDTL. Unfortunately, the disease is resistant to treatment. Currently, there are indications for CAR T-cells treatment. Treatment can be performed at the NIO National Research Institute in Gliwice, provided that there is financial security, because this therapy is not covered by the National Health Fund in Poland, and its cost is about PLN 1.4 million.
I study in Krakow at the AGH University of Science and Technology (unfortunately I am currently on sick leave to focus on treatment), during the first cycles of chemotherapy I was able to pass final exams, finish my studies and defend my diploma thesis, as well as get to a master's degree on this universities. Before I was diagnosed with cancer, I liked to spend time actively walking with my friends in the mountains, playing board games or getting to know interesting parts of Poland and the world. My dream is to go to South America someday in the Andes. Currently, I spend my free time reading, painting and learning Spanish, aaa and I walk a lot with our dog, Stick :) I would like to recover, be able to work, return to college and live a normal life like my peers.
Thanks to all the people, especially my family and close friends (and of course the doctors and nurses) who support me every day and give me hope that I will get better soon.
